New Series: Abiding in Christ through The Gospel of John

We are thrilled to launch our first full Book of the Bible Series this February! Starting Sunday, February 1, we'll journey verse-by-verse through The Gospel of John together as a church family. This powerful Gospel reveals Jesus as the eternal Word, full of grace and truth, inviting us to abide in Him daily for abundant life.

Join us every Sunday morning at 10am at St. Johns Discipleship Community Church and on Wednesday nights in our Connect Groups as we explore what it means to be true disciples of Jesus—walking with Him, growing in intimacy, and sharing His love with others. Whether you're new to faith or a longtime believer, this series will challenge and encourage you to make abiding in Christ your everyday reality.

Series Overview & Schedule

Sunday, February 1 – “Discovering Our Purpose in John’s Gospel” Special “Church at Home Sunday!” – Join us for a live broadcast (details on our website). We'll uncover John’s clear purpose for writing this Gospel and how it reveals our purpose as believers: to believe in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, and experience life in His name.

Key Verse (WEBU): “But these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.” (John 20:31)

Sunday, February 8 – “Abiding in Christ’s Love” – Bring a Friend to Church Sunday! Invite a friend (or two!)—we'll have free gifts for guests (while supplies last) and a great time of food and fellowship after the service. We'll unpack John 1–5, seeing Jesus full of grace and truth, calling us to come and see, be born again, drink living water, and abide in His overwhelming love that changes everything.

Key Verse (WEBU): “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

Sunday, February 15 – “Abiding in Christ’s Authority” In John 6–10, Jesus demonstrates His divine authority as the Bread of Life, the Light of the World, and the Good Shepherd. We'll explore how His words are spirit and life, how truth sets us free, and how trusting His authority brings security and direction amid doubt and opposition.

Key Verse (WEBU): “Jesus said to them, ‘Most certainly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM.’” (John 8:58)

Sunday, February 22 – “Abiding in Christ’s Truth” John 11–15 reveals Jesus as the resurrection and the life, the way, the truth, and the life. We'll see Him raise Lazarus, enter Jerusalem as King, model servanthood, and teach us to abide in Him like branches in the vine—bearing fruit through intimate, obedient connection.

Key Verse (WEBU): “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6)

Sunday, March 1 – “Abiding in Christ’s Victory” The series culminates in John 16–21: Jesus overcomes the world, prays for our unity, faces the cross, declares “It is finished!”, rises victorious, and commissions us to follow Him. We'll celebrate the assurance of peace, eternal life, and mission in His triumph over sin and death.

Key Verse (WEBU): “I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression, but cheer up! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

30-Day Challenge: Read the Entire Gospel of John Together! Download our free 30-Day Gospel of John Reading Plan (based on the “Abiding in Christ” devotional journey I've prepared). Save it to your phone, print it, or follow along daily.

Each day includes Scripture, reflection questions, prayer prompts, and journaling space using the simple P.R.A.Y. method (Pray, Read, Ask, Yield). Commit to 10–15 minutes a day, and watch how abiding in God's Word transforms your life in just one month! Start today—your heart will be softened like good soil to receive the seed of truth.

If you've never surrendered your life to Jesus, today is the perfect day. Pray something like this:

“Jesus, I come to You as a sinner needing salvation. I repent of my sins, confess You as Lord, believe You rose from the dead, and surrender my life to You. From today, I am Your child.”

Welcome to the family! Next steps include water baptism, daily devotion, and joining our community for fellowship and growth. Send us a note at [email protected] to let us know!

We can't wait to see you Sunday at 10am or Wednesday nights in Connect Groups. Let's become everyday disciples of Jesus together—abiding in Him, bearing fruit, and inviting others to experience His life-changing love.

See you soon at St. Johns Discipleship Community Church!
