The Gospel of Luke

Join us this fall at St. Johns DCC for an inspiring, practical, and deeply encouraging 30-day journey through the Gospel of Luke: The Mission of Christ. Over four powerful Sundays—and a daily reading plan that begins Monday, October 5—we’ll walk with Jesus from His announcement of good news to the poor all the way to the empty tomb.

Whether you are new to Scripture, walking through a hard season, or ready to step more fully into what God is doing, this series will help you see Christ clearly, follow Him closely, and join the work He is still doing today.

In a world full of brokenness and spiritual blindness, Jesus does not offer a vague hope. He steps forward with a Spirit-anointed purpose:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” — Luke 4:18-19

This is Luke like you’ve never experienced it before: the Savior who announces good news to the overlooked, the Healer who restores sight, and the Liberator who sets the oppressed free.

Sunday, October 4 — The Mission Proclaimed
Jesus announces His mission—and nothing is impossible with God. We’ll open Luke’s Gospel with the angel’s promise, the Messiah’s birth, the forerunner who prepares the way, and the Savior who is tested, approved, and sent. Come discover the heart of Jesus’ mission and your place in it.

Sunday, October 11 — The Mission Expanded
Faith takes the next step. As the good news moves outward, Jesus calls disciples, calms storms, and asks the question that still confronts every heart: “Who do you say that I am?” We’ll talk about taking up the cross, seeking first the Kingdom, and living like people who have actually seen Him.

Sunday, October 18 — The Mission of Compassion
Jesus seeks the lost, lifts the humble, and shows us the Father’s heart. From healing on the Sabbath to the Savior of the prodigal, this week is an invitation to receive mercy and then extend it. Come ready to be found—and to join Him in finding others.

Sunday, October 25 — The Mission Fulfilled
The Chief Cornerstone is rejected, the New Covenant is given, and the King hangs on a cross—then rises. We’ll look toward the empty tomb and Jesus’ final word over His church: “You are witnesses of these things.” The mission is not finished. It is now ours.
