MARCH SERIES:
"THE DYNAMIC DISCIPLESHIP COMMUNITY"
21 Characteristics of the 1st Century Church the 21st Century Church Desperately Needs.
Have you ever wondered where the name, “Discipleship Community” comes from? It’s a term we use to describe what happened on the Day of Pentecost nearly 2,000 years ago after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4). On that day over 3,000 people were saved, baptized, and filled with the Holy Spirit. What started in an Upper Room prayer meeting with 120 people turned into a 30-year revival with an estimated 120,000 disciples by the end of the 1st century. In Acts 2:42-47, Luke describes what these new disciples began doing as they lived out their new found faith in Jesus every day.
Today over 2 BILLION people identify as Christians. That’s incredible! However, if we take an honest look at how the Church began in Acts 2 versus what it looks like today, we notice many differences! Over the next 2 Sundays we invite you to come on an adventure with us as we look at the 21 characteristics Luke describes in his exciting account of how the Church began to see what happened, how it’s going, and what we can do to get back on track as a dynamic discipleship community in our time today.

The Dynamic Discipleship Community Pt. 2: A Joyful, Generous, and Fruitful Community” (Acts 2:45-47)
"The disciples were devoted to the teachings of the apostles, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. A feeling of fear came over everyone as many amazing things and miraculous signs happened through the apostles. All the believers kept meeting together, and they shared everything with each other. From time to time, they sold their property and other possessions and distributed the money to anyone who needed it. The believers had a single purpose and went to the temple every day. They were joyful and humble as they ate at each other's home and shared their food. At the same time, thjey praised God and had the good will of all the people. Every day the Lord saved people, and they were added to the group."
Acts 2:42-47 GWT
